FAQ
- How much smaller does an image get?
- It depends on the file. Halving the long edge cuts the pixel count to a quarter, and the quality setting works on top of that. The exact result is measured for you: the original size, the new size, and the percentage are read from the real file the moment you change an option.
- Are my photos uploaded anywhere?
- No. Reading the file, scaling it, and saving the result all happen in your browser, so nothing is sent to a server.
- JPG, WebP, or PNG?
- Photos go to JPG or WebP; keep PNG when you need a transparent background. WebP is smaller than JPG at the same quality, but very old browsers cannot open it.
- Does the aspect ratio change?
- No. Only the long edge is capped and the ratio follows. Entering a number larger than the original does nothing, since the image is never upscaled.
